Our recipients were chosen for a variety of reasons from a large pool of amazing applicants. Two of our partner/recipients were chosen in a competitive process based on who they serve and their capacity to help promote the Hotties of Harm Reduction. The third, the Points of Distribution (POD) marketplace, was chosen because of their willingness and unique capacity to help with shipping and the fact that their ‘Start-Up and Service Gap” funds, when they are available, help a variety of small, vulnerable groups doing harm reduction work.
Points of Distribution marketplace is a full-service harm reduction supplier that provides harm reduction and related supplies on a sliding scale basis to its membership, as well as work opportunities for people who use drugs and support to harm reduction groups trying to get started or struggling.
The Peer Network of New York is comprised of peer activists whose mission is to support peer-based harm reduction advocacy, education and leadership development from their home the Bronx, New York and support policy change impacting drug users and people doing sex work.
Finally, the Florida Harm Reduction Collective (FLHRC) is an advocacy and support group of harm reduction and syringe access programs throughout Florida. FLHRC supports programs through training, technical support, and outreach materials to syringe exchange programs on overdose recognition and response and assists organizations and counties looking to pass ordinances to allow for syringe services programs.
We are thrilled to partner with these agencies doing such important work in their communities and look forward, with your support, to providing them with the monetary support they need to continue to reach some of the most vulnerable people in our communities. Each recipient will receive 25% of the profits from the sale of the calendar and HOHR will retain 25% for expenses like printing, shipping and promotion.
In addition, all applicants to the Hotties of Harm Reduction who were not chosen were given the opportunity to purchase calendars at a reduced cost for re-sale and profit in their communities!
